Thereโs something that I really like about monsoon rides. Actually, itโs about many things!
Youโre completely geared up with all the riding gears along with the rain gears. You feel very protected!
Itโs not at all about the hustling…
Because, youโre mostly riding against the wind and you cannot increase the speed owing to the visibility on the roads…
You cannot keep the helmet visor on because of the condensation.
But, hey! The slow paced ride on the roads of lush green country side is to die for, I tell you!
And, if you know your machine, youโre going to enjoy every inch of the roads ahead of you.
You tend to forget your destination; you donโt want to reach early, you just want to go with the wind or against it.
Itโs tempting to run your bike in to the pool of water on the roads, just to see how your bikeโs wheels split the water and splashes all around. Water could be slushy or clear, it doesnโt really matter to you. You keep riding, singing your favourite song as loudly as possible. Because, nobodyโs listening to you. Rain is continuously pouring down… and you wouldnโt want to let it stop.
Youโre not alone – thereโs wind, thereโs rain, and thereโs a beautiful sky that may look little grumpy. Rain is hustling, but you know for a very good reason that you donโt have to rush.
Itโs never about the arrival, but itโs all about the ride itself.
My favourite location for monsoon ride is western ghats.
There is something about the monsoons in the Western Ghats that for so many reasons is incredibly beautiful. Right before it starts raining, you will see a parade of clouds in the gloomy sky march down to usher the rain. Just then, a chilly wind starts to embrace everything around you, and, of course, you too. The wind brings a very distinctive vibe that you want to hold on to โ it is as if your soul is being caressed, and thatโs when itโs about the rain. The sound of raindrops falling on to the leaves, stones, water, and everything elseโฆ itโs like an orchestra concert. My favorite thing to do in the monsoon is to go for a long motorcycle ride. Itโs an escape for me from the city where I live. Mostly, I choose hill stations as my getaway destinations, the view from the top of the hills is truly mesmerizing – everything around can be so bright and alive. Trees swaying, birds singing, and the soothing wind – abundance in nature seldom we acknowledge or appreciate. For me, monsoon is like a strong love affair, for natural reasons it is seasonal. There is nothing more exhilarating than a cup of hot tea served on a rainy day. When the rain takes a break and the sun starts to smile, you will see one of the most spectacular miracles that nature offers, the rainbow. Life offers us all colors, letโs celebrate it every time we breathe. Ride onโฆ
